Steel erection continues at both the Rainier Club and Tower during the month of February. Deliveries and installation of structural steel and garage stairs are ongoing activities, with garage steel erection completing on the 16th and stair erection finishing on the 2nd of March on garage levels J - A. The erection of the heavy structural steel box columns spanning Levels 1 – 5 is holding for commencement on March 5th. Five concrete elevator core pours during February will keep the core climbing to Level 22. In early March, the tower crane will jump an additional 95’ to allow for continued core construction. Following this third jump, the crane will be 450’ above 5th Avenue street grade. The dual car hoist will be mobilized on Columbia Street on March 12 to allow for access as steel is installed up the tower.
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
March 4th – 7th will require significant road closures to allow for the erection of large structural steel columns from Level 1 to Level 5. This will entail a full closure of 5th Ave between Columbia and Marion Streets and Columbia Street between 4th and 5th Ave. for the weekends of the 5th and 12th.
