Structure

Structural steel erection has resumed following the June pause and steel structure will be erected from Level 22 through Level 36 during July. While steel erection paused, the core was poured through Level 42. The core will top out on July 20th, marking completion of another significant project milestone. During July, lower decks L1 – L4 as well as L17 – L20 will be poured as well. Curtain wall installation has begun on Levels 5 and 6 and glazing units will continue to work its way up and around the exterior of the building. As these floors are enclosed with envelope, interior construction for the SLS Hotel will commence. Along 4th Ave., site improvement work is finishing up and 4th Ave. is scheduled to be opened to pedestrian traffic the week of July 11. Finally, the tower crane will make its 6th and final jump on the 23rd of July as it prepares to deconstruct the Doka climbing formwork system following the core topping out. There will be weekend closures of 5th Ave. on the 30th/31st of July and 6th/7th of August to remove this formwork.

Public Impacts

5th Avenue

For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required. Columbia St: The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and the Rainier Club’s eastern property line will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.

Mobilizations/Street Closures

Street improvements are finishing along 4th Ave. Once street work is completed, 4th Ave. will reopen the week of 7/11, tentatively. Deliveries of curtain wall glazing unit bunks and structural steel will also continue along 5th Ave. Special weekend closures of 5th Ave. will happen the 30/31st of July and 6/7th of August.
