Structural steel erection will pause for the first 3 weeks of June. At this point, steel decks are erected up to Level 21. While steel erection pauses, the concrete core and concrete decks will be a main focus for construction. During June, core Levels 34 through 40 will be poured to keep ahead of the steel erection which is scheduled to recommence towards month’s end. Concrete deck pours also continue through Level 19 during this month. While decks are poured above, curtain wall installation begins on June 20th. The curtain wall will start on Level 5 and work continuously around and up the tower. The tower crane is also scheduled to jump on the 11th of June; this is the crane’s fifth jump and it will sit 630 feet above grade. Elevator installation begins on June 15th for the Rainier Club parking elevator.
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
Street improvements are continuing along 4th Ave. This includes closing the northeast sidewalk at the intersection of 4th and Columbia from Columbia street to the Rainier Club. Once street work is completed, 4th Ave. will reopen. Deliveries of curtain wall glazing unit bunks will also continue.
