Four additional concrete elevator core pours were completed in October and the core has begun to rise above 5th Avenue. Core pours will continue at a rate of one floor per week through November. In December the core cycle will be reduced by one day. The tower crane is scheduled to be jumped 100’ in late November to allow for core construction to continue. Steel erection pre-work continues in the parking garage in anticipation of a structural steel erection start in late December in the parking garage areas.
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
The last of major road closures have been completed until approximately January 2016, when the large steel beams that span from Level 1 to Level 5 will be erected. This will require a full closure of 5th Ave between Columbia and Marion Streets. Periodic lane closures on Columbia St. will still be necessary for the next 3-4 months as the perimeter walls and steel erection for the parking garage on the west side of the project are completed.
