Major Activities

Structure

Structural steel erection for the tower was completed at the end of September wrapping up months of significant planning and field work. Rooftop steel erection will continue to add grillage above the penthouse during October. Concrete deck pours are continuing up through the tower and will reach Level 45 by the end of October. At the beginning of the October, the single car material hoist was removed; work has now begun to in-fill the steel and concrete decks where the lift once was located. Garage finish work is ongoing; this includes painting, striping and installing traffic coatings and signage. The Rainier Club’s garage elevator will be the first elevator completion and is set to finish on the 14th. Curtainwall installation is charging forward after some brief planned delays at Level 16 for the corner framing “knuckles.” The curtain wall team will rapidly continue forward at their floor per week pace. Preparations for the mid and high-rise elevators are continuing and the major installation of those elevators will begin in November.

Public Impacts

5th Avenue

For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.

Columbia St

The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and the Rainier Club’s eastern property line will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.

Mobilizations/Street Closures

4th Avenue has been reopened for the public. Deliveries of curtain wall glazing unit bunks and structural steel will also continue along 5th Ave.
